This beautiful 2 oz silver coin is another release in the "Great Greek Mythology" series. Medusa is depicted on this coin.
Data sheet
The reverse of the coin shows an incredibly detailed image of Medusa, the "guardian", daughter of the sea god Forkýn. Medusa is one of the most impressive and feared characters of Greek mythology!
Instead of hair, she had snakes, when someone looked into her eyes, they turned to stone. Medusa herself was the mortal sister of two immortal sisters. She was killed by Perseus. When Perseus later killed her, he had a magical helmet that made him invisible and winged sandals to help. He attacked Medusa from above, looking at her reflection in his shield, which he had set up as a mirror, and cut off her head.
On the reverse of the coin is the inscription: "MEDUSA" - the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts Olympus surrounded by a laurel wreath with a typical Greek pattern, the issuing country, the denomination, the silver content and the year.
The coin has a beautiful design with high relief and selective gilding. It comes in a beautiful wooden case along with a certificate of authenticity. Limited mintage of 500 pieces worldwide.
