The engraver Benedetto Pistrucci was a coin and gemstone engraver from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. To celebrate this magnificent work of numismatic art, Britain's The Royal Mint has struck the obverse and reverse of Benedetto Pistrucci's Waterloo Medal on two coins as part of the Great Engravers Collection. This is the second one.
The reverse of Pistrucci's original medal features two equestrian figures in the center with the features of the Duke of Wellington and General Blücher galloping to glory as they are led by a figure of Victory in flight. This coin is therefore the second in the set with the previous issue, where the obverse of the medal was struck.
The obverse side is the author of M. Jennings, who made the official coin portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.
